How to win friends and influence people (Carnegie)
A classic literature I got interested in because it was recommended in "Burn your portfolio" written by Michael Janda. First thought about this book? Definitely creepy title and something you should not showcase around at random people... 80 years already in print? Classic literature? A book from the great depression?
I had more questions than any idea how this book will be. I was skeptic about if it was even up to date or if the language can be understandable for me (still learning English every day). I already had many books about business in my hands. 90% of them were written by self-acclaimed experts with nothing but money and capital in mind.
Most books are nothing about honest relationships. They are just about the connection with profit, calculation and the simple way how you can make someone buy something. I don't like this kind of things. I like to do business the honest way, to do business because I believe in clients, in what I do and I do believe in the good of every human. Everyone deserves honesty and respect in my opinion...
And luckily also in Carnegie's opinion. I do love this book. It is understandable, easy to follow and has very illustrative examples of how his ideas are implemented in everyday life. Okay, it might be common sense to listen, to respect, to be thankful towards each other. But honestly: We are most of the time focused on ourselves and this book reminds us that we need to step our ego sometimes back and just listen, respect, and understand the people that are surrounding us every day.
"How to win friends and influence people" is more about how to respect and treat each other nicely and exactly this is the secret of success! Hard to believe, but this simple rule we all do know since our childhood is the key to success in our lives, in business, and in how to win friends. I like reading his book. It is inspiring and a great way to self-reflect our behaving towards each other.
I'm very thankful I found this classic literature!
