Self-care & Body Positivity Workshop

During my internship at the Creative Tribe studio, I had a blast in attending and helping out with workshops. One of my favorite workshops was the body positivity and self-care workshop last Saturday.

Maybe you will think: "What is this all about?", well, that was my first impression, too. I had no idea what to expect, but when the schedule and our guest experts were set I got really excited!

"Jocelyn Valencia will teach us how to journal and explore self-care practices, Jes Baker of The Militant Baker will deliver a motivational talk and we'll finish with a guided yoga practice from Emma Bell." This was exactly what you need when you want to relax a Saturday morning or want to refresh your mind. It was a treat to be part of this workshop and getting such great impulsive in your mind.

Jes Baker's talk about body positivity was so inspiring and engaging! It touched me and opened my eyes to many issues that we are facing in our society and in our daily life. When she encouraged us to live our life and be happy, no matter what size and shape you are, I felt relieved and just happy. It is so true that we are chasing for a better self and put our lives back for later when we did accomplish our better-self. The truth is, we will never arrive at this point and we should start to recognize our perfect selves are already there and we should have no apologies in living our lives to the fullest whenever and whatever we want to do. We should start to feel comfortable and just happy about our bodies and empower all shapes and sizes. Nice! Jes Baker, you're a genius! This is obvious, but so many of us became blind to this truth. Thank you for that wonderful presentation and your encouraging work. You save happiness in so many souls!

Jocelyn Valencia started her journaling workshop right after the presentation of Jes Baker. It was a treat to reflect and write down personal thoughts and wishes. I was so relaxed and encouraged on her part of the workshop. I took with me home a little journal and a tool for self-reflection. 

At the end of the workshop, everyone was encouraged to participate in a yoga class with relaxing poses. Emma did a great job a guest expert. Her introductions and explanations were easy to follow and the poses release muscle tensions. We were listening to relaxing music and I fell in kind of meditation.

I was so refreshed in my mind and body after this workshop. It encouraged me to feel comfortable again. I had so many ideas and impressions coming up in my mind after these hours. I hope that creative tribe will prepare a workshop like this again for the future. I would love to participate it again. It had everything essential I could think of to make you feel relaxed and happy.

A big plus was also that I met so many great people, encouraging women and I was able to get a signed copy of Jes Baker's book (Yay! I am a huge fan of her). At home, I told my husband with a big excitement about my workshop experiences and what I've learned and how relaxed I felt afterward. Today I continued to on my thoughts from the journaling workshop part, I read Jes Bakers book with joy and I made some yoga exercises to relax my body and mind. It works very well and I kind of had a wonderful Sunday with an inner peace.


I will definitely post more about the awesome workshops of Creativetribe and my experiences I gained. Definitely a great place to meet wonderful creative women and aspiring personalities. After my internship, I already attended a few events and it is always a blast to meet wonderful creative people from every stage of life.
