Haircut

Haircut

Yes, I did it! And I do not regret. I did cut more than 10 inches of my hair off. An entire braid. But for a good cause: I am going to donate my hair to locks of love. It's a great opportunity to get a new haircut and to help support children who suffer from hair loss. All I can just say: Best decision this year! I do love my new haircut and I am thankful that I can support a child!

I can’t heal a child, but when it helps to make a sick child feel better in their body with a wig I am glad I can support by donating my hair.

When I was 11 years old, I did had a classmate who suffered from chronical hair loss, which ended up in that she became bald. It started slowly but quickly became very recognizable to all of us, especially her suffering about the hair loss. This really touched me and made me think about hair in a different way. That not everyone can have hair, due to chronical diseases or other sufferings. Hair loss is an essential and remarkable body change, that many people, especially growing children are suffering from. I can't heal a child, but when it helps to make a sick child feel better in their body with a wig I am glad I can support by donating my hair.

Here are some facts about locks of love and how you can donate your hair:

  1. First of all, check out the requirements for a hair donation. Not all hair can be considered for a donation. When your hair is damaged or colored you should check if it's still fitting the requirements.
  2. Keep your cut hair in a braid or bundled together. Before you ship your hair it needs to be dry (so it doesn't get moldy) and you should store your hair in a plastic bag. Ship your donation to locks of love or another organization you do consider.
  3. Before you do a dramatic haircut of more than 10 inches, consider your decision wisely. If you love your long hair please keep it and don't put yourself into unnecessary misery. No one wants you to feel uncomfortable with your new hair cut. Keep thinking about this for a little time before you're going to make a final decision (During this time your hair will even grow a bit more, so there's no time lost anyway by using some time for considerations).
  4. Think about how your future hair cut should be. Don't just decide out of the blue when you are at the hairdresser. Know what kind of hairstyle you would like to have, so you will be happy with your new cut and feel happy! Also, you will make work so much easier for your hairdresser when you do know what you want!

I hope I could help you with some useful information about how to donate your hair and what you should consider before cutting your hair about 10 inches. It's a great cause, that supports children and people who are suffering from hair loss. Doing something for a good cause is a great feeling. Doing something for a good cause in combination with a new hairstyle is even better :)
