The Animator's Survival Kit (Richard Williams)
I am not an animator, but I think it is still helpful to understand movement and animation as an illustrator. I do enjoy making short animations or gifs. So I wanted to dig a bit deeper into the topic animation and to explore movements.
Richard Williams is by the way the director of animation of the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".
This book is definitely a great standard work to have. As an illustrator, I had very often character positions who are in the movement or expressions in a movement. It is hard to capture movement and to understand how to illustrate this so it looks authentic. I found in this book so many walking styles, so many unusual positions and expressions that helped me to capture a more dynamic character in my illustrations.
